The Hotel Le Grimaldi, a HappyCulture address, occupies two Belle Epoque buildings linked by an inner courtyard, on Rue Grimaldi, in central Nice. The facade received the Bronze distinction of the Nice Hotel Historique label in 2025. This 4-star hotel has around 46 colourful, flowery rooms blending French chic and Italian cheer, with often-chined furniture.
The homely mood is its signature. The breakfast room turns into a tea salon in the afternoon, and an ice-cream cart, HappyTime, offers original flavours in the hall daily, between 2pm and 7pm. There is no pool, but coffee, tea and water are always available. The station, Avenue Jean-Medecin and Place Massena are a few minutes on foot, the beach about 450 metres away.
Buffet breakfast from 7am to 10:30am, with organic and local products. Private parking nearby, no booking. Pets accepted depending on the room.
Highlights: Staff are the most cited strength, described as warm and attentive, sometimes with a handwritten welcome note. The central yet quiet location wins everyone over for exploring Nice on foot. Cleanliness and bedding comfort come up often. The varied, generous breakfast is appreciated, as are the colourful decor and the small touches, from 24-hour coffee to the ice-cream cart.
Areas for improvement: Some rooms are felt to be small. Soundproofing, in an old building, sometimes lets through noise from the courtyard or other floors. A few guests find the rates high for 4-star services, and the breakfast room a touch cramped.
Overall impression: A charming boutique hotel, central and welcoming, where the welcome and atmosphere matter as much as the setting.
