At 39 rue Gioffredo, steps from the Sainte-Réparate Cathedral and Old Nice, Café Fino is Nice's coffee shop that invented its own universe. Minimalist and clean in design — light wood tables, white walls, industrial lighting — it was conceived from the outset as a multi-use living space: for breakfast, laptop work (free wifi), lunch and afternoon tea, from 7:30am to 6pm Monday to Friday. A TripAdvisor rating of 4.7/5 (#168 of 1,895 restaurants) and hundreds of 5-star reviews attest to a consistency of quality rare in the sector.
The house's absolute star is the brinos — a 100% Café Fino invention: a fluffy brioche bread sandwich filled with avocado, omelette and other ingredients of your choice. It has become a Nice cult dish and one of the best reasons to visit.
The menu is both healthy and indulgent — the difficult balance that Café Fino achieves perfectly. Menu includes: signature brinos (avocado, omelette, chicken, Italian version…), sourdough avocado toast, creative poké bowls, egg muffins, varied tartines (salmon gravlax, Italian), homemade granola, smoothie of the month (original composition changing monthly that becomes an event in itself). Drinks: latte selection (matcha, chai, oat milk…), freshly pressed juices on demand, kombucha. All plant milks available. Dishes from €7.50 to €14.
Californian, relaxed and productive. Café Fino is as much a workspace as a restaurant — the clientele mixes digital nomads, students, Niçois on lunch break and well-informed tourists. The 2000s RnB background playlist and free wifi are two additional reasons to stay longer than planned.
Highlights: The brinos is cited as 'one of Nice's best sandwiches' in dozens of reviews. Drinks quality — matcha latte, chai latte, monthly smoothies — unanimously praised. Plates described as 'beautiful and delicious, quality and well-prepared'. Value for money rated excellent. Wifi and coworking space greatly appreciated.
Areas for improvement: Welcome can be mixed depending on the day — some reviews mention less smiling service during busy periods. Weekend closures (certain slots) can disappoint passing visitors. Average spend has risen slightly (€50–60 for two with drinks).
