Some concepts seem obvious once you have experienced them, and you wonder why nobody thought of it before. Blend Coffee & Vinyl Shop, tucked at 22 bis rue Benoît Bunico in Old Nice, is one of them. In a carefully conceived retro-cosy space — patinated woodwork, vinyl displays, vintage chairs and a competition-grade coffee machine — two passions meet: specialty coffee and vinyl music.
The concept is simple but brilliant: you come to drink excellent coffee, browse the carefully arranged vinyl crates, choose a record under the expert eye of the owner, and leave with both. Jazz, soul, French rock, bossa nova, electronic — the catalogue is eclectic and sorted with manifest personal taste. Records range from a few euros for finds to limited editions for collectors.
Coffee is taken very seriously. Quality equipment, beans selected from committed roasters, mastery of extractions and temperatures. The espresso is dense and aromatic. The flat white is remarkably balanced. The menu offers classics — americano, cappuccino, latte — as well as alternative methods depending on arrivals. Homemade pastries and cakes complete the menu.
Retro, musical and authentically cosy. The day's playlist plays on the shop's turntables — often jazz or soul in the morning, more eclectic in the afternoon. It is also one of Nice's best places to work quietly: well-lit tables, wifi, ambient music at measured volume. Open Thursday to Monday, 8:30am to 6pm.
Espresso €2.50. Flat white €4. Vinyl records €3–35 depending on rarity. Pastries €3–5.
Highlights: The dual coffee-vinyl concept is universally praised as a magnificent and unique idea in Nice. Coffee quality is regularly mentioned as among the top of the Niçois specialty scene. The retro atmosphere and live playlist create a memorable venue experience. Vinyl enthusiasts appreciate the eclectic, well-curated catalogue.
Areas for improvement: Open only 5 days a week (closed Tuesday and Wednesday), which can disappoint visitors on short weekends. The space is limited and can fill up quickly on weekend mornings. The vinyl stock changes frequently — a discovery on every visit but no guarantee of finding what you seek.
Overall: Blend is one of Nice's most singular and endearing places — a café like no other that we recommend to anyone who loves great coffee as much as great music.
