On Rue Pairolière, one of Old Nice's most vibrant arteries with its ochre facades and artisan shops, nestles a place you always leave with the feeling of having found something rare. Brume Coffee, founded by Roxanne in 2022, has become in just a few seasons the absolute reference for specialty coffee in the historic quarter.
The décor says everything about the house's philosophy: natural wood, abundant green plants, suspended dried flowers, carefully arranged cookbooks and design books, natural light filtered through a large window. A soothing bohemian-chic atmosphere that deliciously contrasts with the bustle of Rue Pairolière just beyond the door. The coffee machine is a La Marzocco — an immediate signal of seriousness for connoisseurs.
Roxanne sources her beans directly from small producers and committed roasters. Origins vary with the seasons — Rwanda, Peru, Guatemala, Papua New Guinea — always with a focus on traceability and SCA quality. The espresso is precise, full-bodied without bitterness. The cappuccino is perfectly balanced. Plant milks (soy, almond, oat, coconut) are available with every preparation. The menu also includes a Blue Latte — flower infusion with ginger and coconut sugar — and fresh juices prepared to order from seasonal fruit.
This is where Brume truly distinguishes itself. Roxanne crafts a short, brilliant, entirely seasonal cosmopolitan menu, all homemade: the burrata-rhubarb toast, Turkish Eggs (poached eggs on Greek yoghurt, paprika brown butter), granola bowl with seasonal fruit and chestnut purée. Everything is prepared to order from local, healthy ingredients. The menu changes regularly — yet another reason to return.
Cosy, studious and sincerely welcoming. Brume is also an excellent coworking café in Nice — wifi available, well-lit tables, soft background music. You will find loyal neighbourhood regulars on their morning break alongside passing travellers discovering the place by chance. Roxanne manages everything solo most of the time, giving the place a uniquely warm, almost domestic quality.
Espresso €2.50. Cappuccino €3.50–4. Creative lattes €5–6. Toasts and dishes €8–13. Slice of cake €3–5. Excellent value for consistent quality.
Highlights: Visitors unanimously praise the consistent quality of the coffee — many regulars call it the finest espresso in Old Nice. Creative toasts, particularly the Turkish Eggs and granola bowl, generate repeated enthusiastic reviews. The cosy atmosphere and Roxanne's warm welcome create a feeling of uniqueness, almost privacy, in a heavily touristic neighbourhood. The local, seasonal produce policy is regularly appreciated.
Areas for improvement: The venue's capacity is very limited — around ten covers inside and a small street terrace. Seats are frequently impossible to find without waiting, particularly on weekend mornings. The five-days-a-week schedule leaves some visitors disappointed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Overall: Brume Coffee is the address every coffee-loving visitor should put at the top of their Nice list. A discovery that quickly becomes a habit — and that you jealously keep to yourself, before eventually sharing it with everyone you know.
