In the heart of Old Nice, at 2 rue de la Préfecture, Opéra Club is an institution. Open since 1984 — making it Nice's oldest still-active nightclub — it has traversed decades, musical trends and generations of Niçois clubbers without ever losing its soul or energy.
What makes Opéra Club visually unique is its architectural setting: vaulted stone ceilings, heritage of the historic building in which it is installed, creating particular acoustics and an underground atmosphere very different from contemporary clubs.
Music is generalist and danceable — international pop, mainstream electro, reggaeton and Top 40 hits, with popular themed evenings (reggaeton, Latin nights, pop, 90s). The young audience (18-25 predominantly) comes first to dance in a relaxed, accessible atmosphere. Thursday evenings are particularly popular with students. Entry at €10 with drink included is among Nice clubs' most accessible.
Open daily from 11:30pm to 5am. Entry €10 with drink. Dress code: casual but clean. No reservation needed.
Highlights: Opéra Club is described as Nice's most accessible and democratic club — a place where everyone is welcome without excessive dress code pressure. Vaulted ceilings are regularly cited as one of the most original settings in Nice nightlife. Entry with drink at €10 is very appreciated. Varied programme pleases spontaneous evenings.
Areas for improvement: Capacity is limited — popular evenings fill early. Some visitors mention occasionally uneven door welcome. Sound can be too loud in some spots.
Overall: Opéra Club is Old Nice's most accessible and most historic nightlife address — the club for a spontaneous, uncomplicated evening in a unique baroque setting.
