Opened in 2022, N La Plage is the newest and most luxurious of Nice's private beaches. Directly opposite the legendary Hôtel Negresco, it extends the palace's universe onto the pebbles of the Promenade des Anglais in a soothing palette of grey-green and white. Florist and landscaper Hervé Frézal, Meilleur Ouvrier de France, conceived a true botanical garden on the sea: jasmine, fig trees, palm trees and Mediterranean species create a vegetal cocoon whose heady scent mingles with sea spray.
The space features only four carefully spaced rows of sunbeds, each thicker and more comfortable than at competitors. Romantic double beds and pergola structures recalling French Grand Siècle gardens complete the furnishings. Palace standards are evident from arrival: valet parking, accompaniment to your sunbed, high-quality beach towel offered to every guest, regular check-ins throughout the day. You don't come to N La Plage to be packed in — you come to feel unique.
Under the dual direction of chef Sébastien Volontier and with the oversight of Michelin-starred Virginie Basselot, the beach restaurant is the Negresco's third table — and a gastronomic experience in its own right. The menu celebrates Niçois terroir: vintage sardines, deep green pea cream, veal chop with summer truffle and green beans, summer truffle focaccia. Seasonal raw and cooked vegetable salad with Greek yoghurt and grilled halloumi shows rare vegetable attention for a beach of this calibre. At sunbeds, a 'Beach & Lounge' selection includes the famous Rolls by Homer Lobster (voted world's best lobster roll) and Kids Boxes for young gastronomes.
Average spend: €80 per person. Restaurant open daily for lunch (12pm–3pm), dinner in season.
Near-monochrome, minimalist and impeccably modern. Everything is designed for sensory isolation from the outside world. Density is intentionally low — this is the only Nice private beach where you cannot overhear your neighbour's conversation. The clientele is international, distinguished, often Negresco regulars. An absolute luxury parenthesis.
Sunbed per day: €35 to €55 depending on row. Reservation mandatory, available on the Negresco website. Hotel guests receive priority access and service.
Highlights: Service is unanimously described as exceptional — 'worthy of a palace', 'the best in Nice', 'you feel truly valued'. Sunbed quality exceeds all other beaches. Food reaches a gastronomic level rare for a beach. Controlled density guarantees precious privacy. Reviews regularly name specific staff members for their attentiveness.
Areas for improvement: Prices are significantly above the Nice beach average. The lounge menu at sunbeds is considered minimal by some. Occasional incidents regarding seat management (moving children, policy communication) have been reported.
N La Plage is not merely Nice's most luxurious private beach — it is a complete sensory experience uniting gastronomy, wellness, garden artistry and palace service in one unrivalled setting.
