Opened in 2015 in Cagnes-sur-Mer, 20 minutes from Nice, Polygone Riviera is the region's most original retail concept — and perhaps France's most innovative in its category. Inspired by Sunset Boulevard and California's open-air shopping villages, this 80,000 m² complex entirely rethinks the shopping experience by integrating contemporary art, leisure and gastronomy within a refined Mediterranean architectural framework.
You stroll here as through a village — pedestrian streets, tree-lined squares, fountains, sculptures and contemporary art installations dotting the alleys. Internationally renowned artists have created permanent works here, making each visit a cultural stroll as much as a commercial one. Sunshine is part of the décor — and when it rains, covered spaces allow the promenade to continue.
Polygone Riviera offers a well-calibrated selection of 160 boutiques and restaurants, including major international chains: Printemps (premium department store), Primark, Zara, H&M, Sandro, Maje, IKKS, Nike, Adidas. The positioning is accessible premium — more ambitious than a classic shopping centre without reaching Carré d'Or levels.
The complex integrates a JOA casino, a multiplex cinema, a large entertainment venue and children's leisure spaces. A full day can be organised between shopping, gastronomy, entertainment and strolling.
Accessible by bus from Nice (lines 200 and 57) or by car (A8 motorway exit). Free open-air parking. Open daily 10am–8pm.
Free entry. Accessible to mid-high price range: €20–500.
Highlights: The open-air village concept is universally described as a revelation by first-time visitors — the atmosphere is radically different from a classic shopping centre. Contemporary art installations are regularly cited as a genuine strength. The diversity of the offering — shopping, gastronomy, cinema and casino — makes it a full-day destination. The sunny Mediterranean atmosphere is unforgettable.
Areas for improvement: Distance from Nice (20 min) requires a vehicle or bus. On rainy days the open-air experience loses some of its charm despite the covered sections. Some visitors find the fashion offering slightly lacking in creative designer depth compared to Le Carré d'Or.
Overall: Polygone Riviera is the most singular shopping experience in the Nice region — a place that has invented something new and fully justifies the journey from Nice.
