Installed on the ground floor of the Best Western Hôtel Roosevelt in the Jean Médecin district, Delano Cocktail Bar has established itself as one of Nice's most confidential and appreciated cocktail addresses. Its neo-retro Art Deco décor — ivory, mustard and emerald green, velvet furniture, low lighting and vintage posters — recreates the hushed atmosphere of a 1930s American club, far from the bustle of the Promenade.
The vision is that of a cocktail bar exclusively dedicated to precision mixology: no draught beer, no low-end wines, only creations crafted by bartenders trained to match their ambitions. The house has seen several talents pass through — founder Paco, then Maze and Georgii — all passionate about spirits and infusion techniques.
The menu, deliberately short and focused, rests on original creations combining quality spirits and unexpected pairings: Delano Sour (sumac-infused vodka, Italicus, lemon juice, citrus cordial), Riviera Pénicillin (Monkey Shoulder whisky, coffee and rosemary-infused red vermouth, lemon, agave), Sakura non-alcoholic version (lychee juice, lotus white tea syrup, lemon). Bartenders are renowned for crafting entirely bespoke cocktails based on client preferences — a promise kept on every visit.
Delano offers an original selection of homemade Japanese snacks: gyoza, mochi, sushi and a few Mediterranean plates to accompany the creations. A food-cocktail pairing that distinguishes the establishment from Nice's competition.
Intimate, cosy, conducive to conversation. Lounge music stays in the background. Limited capacity (40 covers) ensures an almost private atmosphere. Ideal for a first drink before dinner or a late nightcap. Open daily from 6pm, no reservation required — groups and privatisations by email.
Signature cocktails €12–16. Japanese snacks €6–12. Accessible prices for exceptional quality.
Highlights: Guests highlight the consistent excellence of cocktails — several visitors describe them as among the best of their lives. The flexibility of bartenders in creating personalised cocktails beyond the menu is universally appreciated. The Art Deco setting is described as elegant without being intimidating. The Japanese snacks are a genuinely pleasant surprise.
Areas for improvement: The bar's small size means finding a seat can be difficult on busy evenings, particularly weekends. Some visitors mention that opening hours may vary slightly by season.
Overall: Delano is one of Nice's finest surprises for serious mixology enthusiasts. A bar that proves elegance and accessibility can coexist.
