La From' — Fromagerie & Fine Grocery

150 small-producer cheeses Homemade toasted sandwiches Bespoke boards Artisan charcuterie & wines
About

In the Musiciens quarter, steps from Le Carré d'Or and the Jean Médecin tram, La From' is the fromagerie-fine grocery that Nice's city centre residents were waiting for. Founded by Damien Atibard, it quickly established itself through a generous window display, convivial atmosphere and rigorous selection of over 150 cheeses sourced exclusively from small artisan producers — far from industrial standards.

La From's philosophy is clear and unapologetic: honouring the terroir. Every cheese has an identifiable origin, a producer, a story. Damien Atibard personally selects his cheeses from artisans committed to respectful practices — raw milk, natural pastures, artisanal expertise.

The Complete Offering

La From' is far more than a fromagerie: it is a three-in-one for epicureans. The fromagerie offers its 150 references cut to order, with pairing advice and affinage explained. The fine grocery selects artisan charcuterie, exceptional butters (Bordier, isigny), homemade jams, honeys, organic yoghurts, free-range eggs, terrines and small-producer wines. At lunchtime, toasted sandwiches made with the house's own cheeses and charcuterie. On order, bespoke boards for aperitifs, weddings, corporate events.

Atmosphere

Warm and convivial. Damien is described as passionate and available, capable of guiding any client — from novice to expert — toward their dream cheese. The welcome is unanimously praised. Accessible by tram lines 1 and 2 at Jean Médecin station.

Pricing

Cheeses €2.40–17.90 per piece · €32.50–54.90/kg · Toasted sandwich €8.90 · Boards on request.

Guest Reviews

Highlights: La From' is described as Nice city centre's most memorable cheese discovery — you come for one cheese and leave with an entire board. Damien is unanimously praised for his passion and advice. Lunchtime toasted sandwiches generate enthusiastic comments. Charcuterie and estate wines perfectly complement the proposition.

Areas for improvement: The space is relatively compact for 150 cheeses. Lunchtime can be busy. Some clients would like extended weekend hours.

Overall: La From' is Nice city centre's finest fromagerie-fine grocery — a boutique reconciling artisanal quality, conviviality and accessibility in an ideally located quarter.
