Perched on a jagged rock and connected by a footbridge, Le Plongeoir is arguably the most spectacular venue in Nice. This iconic site — originally a fishing boat turned restaurant during the Belle Époque, then a legendary diving board in the 1950s — has been resurrected as a must-visit dining destination. Dining here feels like floating above the waves, with 360° views of the Baie des Anges and the Port of Nice.
The menu highlights the finest from the sea: sea bream, line-caught sea bass, and grilled octopus. The upper-level lounge bar is perfect for high-end tapas (panisses, fried joels) paired with signature cocktails at sunset. Main courses range from €35 to €58, with weekday lunch menus at around €45.
The vibe evolves throughout the day: bright and marine at lunch, it becomes magical as the sun sets. The sound of surf against the rock is the only background music. The understated decor favours natural materials to keep focus on the panoramic view.
Highlights: A setting unparalleled in the world, offering breathtaking photo opportunities — accurate fish cooking and precise seasoning — a young and reactive team despite constant crowds.
Areas for improvement: In strong wind or sea spray, some outdoor tables can become uncomfortable. The site is often fully booked weeks in advance.
Le Plongeoir is as much a visual experience as a culinary one. The dream spot to capture the essence of the Riviera, caught between azure waters and solar gastronomy.
