The Marechiaro has dropped anchor on Quai des Docks, in the heart of Nice's port, facing the boats. Open since 2024, it takes its name from a small fishing harbour in Naples. At the helm, Francesco and his wife Michela, both Neapolitan, set on bringing a piece of their city to the Nice seafront.
The cuisine is Napolitan and authentic: fresh fish, homemade fresh pasta, wood-fired pizzas and southern specialities such as zuppa di cozze or linguine alla Nerano. The bright decor, with natural materials and splashes of colour, recalls the sunny facades of southern Italy. The terrace looks onto the masts of the port.
A port address, facing the boats. Chef Francesco will happily carve the day's fresh fish at your table, and offers a homemade digestif at the end of the meal. Booking advised, a table goes fast.
Highlights: The authentic Napolitan cuisine wins everyone over: fresh fish, zuppa di cozze, generous pasta and pizzas. The warm welcome of Francesco and his team comes up constantly, as do the copious portions and homemade desserts. The port location, facing the boats, and the Italian family atmosphere are much appreciated.
Areas for improvement: At busy times, quality can be uneven and the wait long, with an occasional sense of disorganisation. Value for money divides opinion depending on the experience.
Overall impression: A genuine Napolitan table on the port, warm and authentic, for fresh fish and homemade pasta facing the boats.
